Present: Jim, Roman, Chris P., Julie, Bill

Absent:  Chris S., John

1. Updates:

  • Moe in cold room---plan for mid-April deployment?
    • Will use NEO for April 14 deployment.  Julie to dust it off this week, and next week will discuss where NEO is in preparation for the deployment.
    • Probes on Moe:  currently using 1 NED (IPC), 2 FAM, rest TAM.  So far only 1 positive FAM, and several inhibitions on all channels.  Will continue the cold-room test for at least 10 more days.
    • Roman giving Julie some deep water collected yesterday.  May not have the inhibition that the surface water has.
  • Bruce and DA.  Software Switched?  Are we good to go?
    • Bruce code was changed to latest (new) code yesterday.  Roman firing off  a DA today as a final check.
  • Array printing update?
    • All tips are working and Roman/Nilo have printed 84 DA arrays.  Will QC these this morning; if fine, then Chris P., gets Nilo to start printing the more difficult (longer) BAC arrays.
  • PCR reagents on Gordon---Chris P. update.
    • Chris P. to remove reagents this morning.
  • SPE columns---still waiting on quote.
  • Chris P. still to check/confirm the IPC order.  Sent in the PO, but did not hear that they rec'd it...

2. Progress update on papers:

  • Chris P.
    • Discussed the Figures; much progress made.  Chris will have rough draft of all figures by next week.  Much discussion about what should be used to normalize arrays, background or other spots.  She will try using several methods.
  • John R.
    • Report from John:
      • * BAC:
Working with Chris P. on environmental data to present in her paper
  • * HAB:Nilo and Roman have begun the process of turning array spot intensity into numbers for '08.  I stand ready to assist in that processing, if needed, and I am ready to carefully examine how the significant patterns in the HAB time-series relate to the environmental variability (data from moorings, AUV, satellite).  The interannual picture was mostly roughed out already, however I furthered the analysis by quantifying wind and hydrographic conditions of the '07 and '08 network deployments as anomalies (deviations from their climatological monthly mean).  For example, this showed September '07 to be anomalously weak upwelling, and October '08 to be anomalously strong upwelling.* * ZOO:Working with Julio on ESP and AUV results for his paper.
